ABOUT ME
I am a writer and rural doctor living in South West Victoria, Australia. As a young girl, my dream was to be a professional writer. I ended up studying medicine instead, and life took a different path. Twenty years of study and four children later, my childhood dream reared its little head. I started a small blog in 2021, and from there, I was hooked. In stolen moments between my medical work and mothering, I have completed numerous writing courses.
I am currently working on a non-fiction book called 'The Rural Birth Project', a collection of stories and interviews of rural women and the challenges they face birthing in a rural area. In the background, I am writing a historical fiction novel. I do a lot of planning in my head whilst I work in my veggie garden.
For my medical work as a rural GP and lactation consultant, I have a separate website at drdeborahcarrington.com.
